Civic Orchestra Community Concert: South Shore Cultural Center

Come listen to the Civic Orchestra of Chicago when it returns to the historic South Shore Cultural Center for its eleventh consecutive season. Tito Muñoz, music director of the Phoenix Symphony, conducts a diverse program of American music. A suite from jazz legend Duke Ellington’s ballet The River channels the imagery of water as a metaphor for rebirth. Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winner Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral offers a contemplative reflection on the individual’s journey through life, inspired in part by the memory of the composer’s late brother.
